Actively Seeking Braillist (Braille Specialist) - Kent, WA

We are seeking a dedicated and certified Braille Specialist to join our school district in Kent, WA. This contracted position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential Braille support to a Kindergarten student. Position Type: Full-Time
Student Grade Level: Kindergarten
Certification Requirement: Proper certification as a Braillist in WA state
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in Braille to meet the unique needs of a Kindergarten student.
- Develop and adapt Braille materials and resources to support the student's curriculum.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure the student's educational success.
- Monitor and assess the student's Braille proficiency and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of Braille instruction and student performance.
- Collaborate with the IEP team to support the development and implementation of the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Work with the student's family to provide guidance and support for Braille instruction at home.
- Stay current with best practices in Braille education and assistive technology.
Qualifications:
- Proper certification as a Braillist in the state of Washington (WA).
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and materials.
- Experience working with Kindergarten students or students with visual impairments is preferred.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Dedication to providing high-quality Braille instruction and support to the student.
