Teacher of the Visually Impaired for PA school district

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Pennsylvania, you'll play a vital role in providing specialized education and support to students with visual impairments. Collaborating closely with students, families, and fellow educators, you'll design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs and abilities of each student.

 Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students' visual needs and develop personalized IEPs.
  • Implement innovative teaching methods and utilize adaptive technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Provide instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and other essential areas tailored to students' needs.
  • Foster collaboration with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure inclusive educational practices.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to support growth.
  • Advocate for students' educational rights and promote awareness of visual impairment challenges within the school community and beyond.

 Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Certification in Visual Impairment Education (TVI certification).
  • Proficiency in Braille and familiarity with assistive technologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with visual impairments.
  • Experience in developing IEPs and implementing evidence-based instructional practices is preferred.
