Sunbelt is working with a school district in the Milford, NH area that is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team for the upcoming school year. As a TVI, you will provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students within our district. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with visual impairments and ensure their educational success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students in accordance with state guidelines and district policies.
- Assess students' needs and abilities to determine appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
- Provide direct instruction to students in various educational settings, including general classrooms, resource rooms, and specialized environments.
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to enhance students' access to the curriculum.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure the implementation of accommodations and modifications.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Support students in developing independent living skills and assist with transition planning.
- Provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, and parents on strategies to support visually impaired students.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Hampshire Teaching Certification with a Visual Impairment endorsement (TVI credential) is required.
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in teaching students with visual impairments, including braille instruction, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive technology.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
