At this time we are currently hiring for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Palos Heights, IL for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year please see below for details and how to apply.

Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Location: Palos Heights, IL

Duration: August 21, 2024 – June 3, 2025

Position Type: Full-time

Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support to visually impaired students within the Palos Heights area.
  • Serve as an itinerant teacher, covering 10 schools within the region.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure the academic success and holistic development of visually impaired students.
  • Utilize adaptive technology and resources to facilitate learning and accessibility for visually impaired students.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy skills among visually impaired students.

Caseload: 20 students

Requirements:

  • Valid Illinois Teaching License with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired students preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of visually impaired students.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology and resources for the visually impaired.
