Procare Therapy, a leading educational services provider, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year. This position is based in Chicago, IL, and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of visually impaired students in the K-12 education system.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to visually impaired students in various K-12 grade levels.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the academic and social development of visually impaired students.
- Utilize adaptive technology and instructional strategies to enhance learning experiences.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence among visually impaired students.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field.
- Valid Illinois Teaching License with endorsement in Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Previous experience working with K-12 visually impaired students is preferred.
- Knowledge of braille and assistive technologies is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning needs and effectively differentiate instruction.
