Job Description: Procare Therapy is seeking a passionate and dedicated K-12 Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year in Oxnard, CA. As a TVI, you will provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, enabling them to access the curriculum and participate fully in the school environment. This position is hourly, offering full-time hours on a contract basis.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the students' varying needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to develop and implement educational programs for visually impaired students.
- Conduct assessments to determine students' visual abilities and educational needs.
- Provide instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and assistive technology.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
- Valid California Teaching Credential for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.
- Knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies for visually impaired students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
