Job Description: Blazer Jobs, in collaboration with the Greenville School District, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time position during the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instructional plans tailored to the individual needs of students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to ensure the inclusion of students in all aspects of the educational environment
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Conduct assessments to determine students' needs and progress
- Support students in developing skills for independence and successful navigation of the school environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired
- South Carolina Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Knowledge of Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working with students with visual impairments is preferred
