Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Apopka, Florida
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as an expert educator supporting learners with visual impairments. We are seeking dedicated Teachers for the Visually Impaired to provide direct and consultative services within a school setting. This is a full-time, contract opportunity working closely with students, teachers, and school staff. This onsite position requires flexibility and passion to empower students of various age groups as part of a collaborative special education team.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current applicable Educator Certification and National Certification
- Experience supporting students who are visually impaired in K-12 environments
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administration
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Valid background clearance as required by the district
- Committed to maintaining all time-sensitive credentialing requirements
What You'll Do:
- Provide direct instruction, consultation, and assessment for students with visual impairments as assigned
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student goals and abilities
- Work in partnership with general education and special education staff
- Ensure educational materials and environments are accessible
- Support staff training and parent communication relating to visual impairment
- Stay current on best practices, technologies, and legal requirements in the field
- Maintain detailed records and participate in IEP meetings
Pay for this opportunity is $45 per hour.
