We are seeking dedicated Teachers for the Visually Impaired to provide direct and consultative services within a school setting. This is a full-time, contract opportunity working closely with students, teachers, and school staff. This onsite position requires flexibility and passion to empower students of various age groups as part of a collaborative special education team.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current applicable Educator Certification and National Certification
- Experience supporting students who are visually impaired in K-12 environments
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administration
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Valid background clearance as required by the district
- Committed to maintaining all time-sensitive credentialing requirements
What You'll Do:
- Provide direct instruction, consultation, and assessment for students with visual impairments as assigned
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student goals and abilities
- Work in partnership with general education and special education staff
- Ensure educational materials and environments are accessible
- Support staff training and parent communication relating to visual impairment
- Stay current on best practices, technologies, and legal requirements in the field
- Maintain detailed records and participate in IEP meetings
Pay for this opportunity is $45 per hour.
