Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification, endorsed or specialized in Visual Impairment
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in a school environment
• Proficiency in adapting and developing curriculum materials in accessible formats (e.g., Braille, large print, tactile graphics)
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with classroom teachers, therapists, and families
• Knowledge of assistive technology for visual impairments
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess individual student needs and develop customized educational plans
• Deliver direct instruction in core academic areas, daily living skills, and orientation & mobility as appropriate
• Adapt classroom materials and provide alternative access to curriculum
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary
• Consult regularly with teachers and staff to ensure successful inclusion
• Provide guidance and support to families regarding strategies and resources
• Maintain current records and participate in IEP meetings
