Qualifications:
- Hold current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Demonstrated experience working with students who have visual impairments
- Strong knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create and adapt instructional materials to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering independence and accessibility for all learners
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instruction based on student needs and IEPs
- Teach Braille and the use of adaptive devices and technology
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and other school staff
- Educate and advise families and caregivers on supporting students’ academic and daily living skills
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary planning
