Key Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or appropriate certification required
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably across multiple age groups
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques and materials for students with varying levels of need
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, families, and support staff
- Passion for individualized teaching and student advocacy
Primary Duties:
- Deliver specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 20-23 students with diverse visual impairments
- Develop and implement effective individualized lesson plans and instructional materials
- Assess students’ educational needs and progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to create accessible learning environments
- Monitor, maintain, and advocate for necessary assistive technology and resources
- Attend IEP meetings to support each student’s educational plan
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom community
