Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments, preferred
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt curriculum and modify instructional materials to meet students’ visual needs
- Commitment to advocacy and empowerment for students with disabilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Assess student needs and create individualized educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other team members
- Provide resources and training on accessible instructional materials, technology, and equipment
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate specialized strategies into general curriculum
