Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in special education for visual impairments
- Demonstrated experience as an educator for students who are visually impaired
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with school staff, students, and caregivers
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and educational accommodations for visually impaired learners
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and supporting each student’s individual learning journey
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Implement individualized education plans (IEP) in collaboration with support teams
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for optimal student access and participation
- Consult with teachers, related service providers, and families to enhance students’ learning opportunities and maximize independence
- Monitor and track student progress towards IEP goals, maintaining clear and thorough records
- Attend school meetings and participate in team discussions to advocate for visually impaired students’ educational success
This is an onsite, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position for one dedicated professional. District assignment and building specifics will be determined upon placement.
