This role, based near Owasso, OK, is tailored for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) who excels in supporting unique learning needs within K-12 school environments. Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification in teaching students with visual impairments
- Previous experience as a TVI in a school setting preferred
- Deep understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and accessible instructional strategies
- Strong ability to participate in and contribute to IEP meetings
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable gathering and interpreting student data to inform educational planning
Primary Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings for students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ visual needs and help develop individualized education plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum materials
- Gather and maintain accurate information and documentation about each student’s progress
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility, and use of adaptive devices as needed
- Consult with parents, teachers, and administration to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities
- Monitor and track student achievements, adjusting interventions as appropriate
