What we’re looking for:
- Valid state licensure/certification to teach visually impaired students (TVI)
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or relevant classroom/itinerant setting
- Mastery in adapting core curriculum and materials using Braille, large print, and assistive technology
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to assess student needs, write IEP goals, and monitor progress
- Organizational skills to serve multiple students and manage caseload responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt classroom activities and materials
- Teach compensatory skills, including Braille literacy, orientation and mobility support, and technology utilization
- Participate in IEP meetings and help develop educational plans that support each student’s growth
- Consult with families and staff to share strategies for fostering independence and success
- Advocate for accessible environments and inclusive learning opportunities
