Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification with an endorsement or credential in teaching the visually impaired (TVI).
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Proficiency in adapting and modifying educational materials to suit individual needs.
- Knowledge of Braille or willingness to learn.
- Ability to assess students’ needs and contribute to IEP development and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups.
- Modify classroom materials, teach Braille and assistive technology as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
- Conduct assessments, write reports, and participate in the IEP process.
- Support transitions between grade levels and educational settings.
- Advocate for students’ access to the full educational curriculum and extracurricular activities.
