Virtual Teacher of Visually Impaired in PA
A part-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized telehealth and in-person services to students requiring vision support. Located in Philadelphia, PA, this contract position offers an engaging way to support students’ academic progress through direct instruction and collaborative accommodations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct and indirect services primarily during four student block times: two reading/writing and two math blocks, scheduled Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 2:45 pm
- Emphasizing support in reading and writing while also assisting with math instruction as needed
- Collaborating with teachers and educational staff to modify assignments, ensuring accessibility and preventing academic setbacks
- Creating and implementing document accommodations such as larger text and increased spacing to support student success
- Providing consultation and support for potential in-classroom assistance as appropriate
Qualifications and experience preferred:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments in educational settings
- Ability to deliver services virtually (telehealth) with proficiency in relevant technologies
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with school staff and families
- Adaptability to a flexible schedule within the designated block hours
This role offers a focused part-time commitment averaging approximately 13.75 to 15 hours per week, with some flexibility as student needs evolve. The position accommodates virtual providers and is designed to enhance students’ access to a full and equitable education.
