Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | South Carolina
A specialized opportunity is available for a visually impaired teacher to provide telehealth instruction to a high school student with unique needs. This contract role involves delivering virtual support for one hour each week, focusing on educational strategies tailored to a visually impaired female student. The student is wheelchair-bound, has severe physical needs, and requires additional physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) services, with visual impairment presenting less severe challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one hour per week of virtual instruction tailored specifically for a high school student with visual impairments
- Collaborate professionally with therapists providing PT and OT services to support the student’s educational goals
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate the student’s physical and visual needs
- Monitor and assess progress related to visual impairment learning objectives
- Maintain accurate documentation of sessions and student outcomes
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with high school students who have visual impairments and complex physical disabilities
- Comfort and proficiency with telehealth platforms and virtual instructional methods
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including therapists and caregivers
- Strong communication and organizational skills
