Virtual Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) Michigan
VocoVision is looking for qualified Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs) to support K-12 students across Michigan in a fully remote setting during the 2026–2027 school year. This role provides specialized instruction and services to students with visual impairments through virtual platforms, offering flexibility while making a meaningful educational impact
Qualifications
• Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Visual Impairment Education, or a related field required
• Active Michigan teaching certification required
• Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement/certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired preferred
• Previous school-based experience required; virtual experience is a plus
• Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and specialized instructional strategies
• Experience supporting students with assistive technology and accessible learning materials
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Comfortable utilizing virtual platforms and educational technology
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Student Services
• Provide specialized virtual instruction to students with visual impairments based on individual educational needs
• Assess student strengths and areas of need related to vision related educational access
• Support the development of compensatory skills, independent living skills, and academic success
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as appropriate
Collaboration & Consultation
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
• Consult with school personnel regarding accommodations, modifications, and accessibility needs
• Provide recommendations to support student success across educational environments
Assistive Technology & Accessibility
• Support students in utilizing assistive technology and accessible educational materials
• Recommend tools and resources that promote independence and access to instruction
• Assist with implementation of accommodations related to visual impairments
• Provide training and guidance to staff and families regarding accessibility supports
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and educational records
• Complete reports and documentation within required timelines
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations
• Monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives
Advocacy & Student Support
• Advocate for equitable access to educational opportunities and instructional materials
• Support student self-advocacy and independence skills
• Provide resources and education to families and school teams regarding visual impairment services
• Promote inclusive practices that support student participation and achievement
