Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working in educational settings with students who have visual impairments
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized instructional plans
- Flexibility and adaptability to support a diverse range of learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments, individually or in groups
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials to suit diverse learning needs, including instruction in Braille and the use of technology
- Work alongside general and special education teachers to ensure student inclusion and access
- Complete functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Train staff and students in the use of specialized equipment and tools
- Serve as a resource to families, guiding them on strategies and resources to support student progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student growth
