- Provide direct instructional and consultative services to students with visual impairments in a school environment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to integrate specialized learning strategies
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials for accessibility, including Braille and low vision adaptations
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Train and guide school staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Advocate for students’ individualized educational needs, ensuring compliance with IEP requirements
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of student growth and service delivery
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility for certification
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with adaptive technology and Braille preferred
- Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and provide targeted instruction
