Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Arlington Heights, IL

As a key member of the Vision Related Services Department, you’ll work with students from Pre-K through Transition age, collaborating with colleagues, families, and school staff, while lending your expertise to enhance vision-related services for the district.
This full-time, school-year position (37.5 hours per week) offers flexibility for those considering part-time employment. You’ll travel between campuses, providing direct instruction, coaching, and mentorship to both students and fellow educators. Your role extends beyond classroom support to include advocacy, resource sharing, and professional development guidance within a strong, supportive team environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with a visual impairment teaching endorsement
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field
- Minimum 5 years of school-based work experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Deep understanding of best practices in vision-related services and accommodations for diverse learners
- Ability to mentor, train, and coach new and returning staff
- Strong advocacy and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Fingerprints/background check required for credentialing
