Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Visual Impairment or Special Education with emphasis on visual impairment
- Current teaching certification/license as required for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferable in school-based settings
- Strong assessment, IEP development, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel between multiple sites within the district
- Commitment to fostering independence and inclusion for learners with visual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and adaptive strategies for students with visual impairments
- Implement and update IEP goals in partnership with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Assess students’ needs and progress, recommending appropriate accommodations and adaptive technologies
- Provide consultative support to classroom staff for accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain thorough records and documentation to support student growth and meet compliance standards
- Participate actively in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training opportunities
This assignment is full-time (37.5–40 hours weekly), running from approximately August to June, with start and end dates to be confirmed. Travel within the district is required, offering a dynamic and varied workweek. No remote or hybrid work options are available.
