Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with the appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Minimum five years of school-based experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Strong mentoring, coaching, and training skills for new and returning staff
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, problem-solve, and advocate for resources
- Commitment to completing all credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality vision-related services to students with visual impairments
- Support, mentor, and coach fellow educators within the Vision Related Services Department
- Provide ongoing training and guidance on best practices for vision education
- Assist with advocacy and access to resources for both students and staff
- Travel between multiple schools within the district in an itinerant capacity
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
