Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with the appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum five years of school-based experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and training skills for new and returning staff
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, problem-solve, and advocate for resources
  • Commitment to completing all credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality vision-related services to students with visual impairments
  • Support, mentor, and coach fellow educators within the Vision Related Services Department
  • Provide ongoing training and guidance on best practices for vision education
  • Assist with advocacy and access to resources for both students and staff
  • Travel between multiple schools within the district in an itinerant capacity
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
