Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for such certification
- Experience working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision
- Proficiency with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage caseloads, develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and implement accommodations
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, and contribute to IEP development and goal setting
- Instruct students in the use of Braille, large print, tactile materials, and accessible technology
- Consult with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to modify curriculum and the classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records and compliance documentation
