Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Current state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Proven experience working 1:1 with pediatric students in educational settings
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology and braille instruction
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Compassionate, patient, and responsive to the needs of visually impaired learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials for accessibility
- Assess students’ strengths and needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Train staff and family members on appropriate strategies and technology
