Qualifications:
- Active and valid teaching certification or license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
- Experience working with K-12 students in an educational or special education setting preferred
- Knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility strategies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educational teams, families, and students
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and empowering students to reach their fullest potential
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, following established Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assess student needs and progress using various diagnostics and tools for visually impaired learners
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessible content delivery
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Provide ongoing support and consultation to school staff and families regarding strategies and resources for visual impairment
- Maintain required documentation and participate in IEP meetings as a contributing team member
