Qualifications:
- Active and valid teaching license for Visually Impaired students
- Prior experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a school setting is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and alternative communication strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and advocacy for student resources
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction for students with visual impairments, both in and out of the classroom
- Evaluate students’ needs, develop IEP goals, and monitor progress in collaboration with families and school teams
- Design accessible materials and leverage assistive technology to ensure curriculum inclusivity
- Serve as a resource for staff and parents, providing training and recommendations for accommodating visual disabilities
- Participate in student and team meetings to advocate for effective learning environments
- Support students’ skills for independent living and academic success
