Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid and active state license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Demonstrated experience in schools or educational settings serving visually impaired students
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, supporting the needs of students, families, and staff
- Ability to design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to develop and implement effective learning strategies
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to eligibility evaluations and IEP meetings
- Develop and adapt instructional materials using tactile, auditory, and visual methods tailored to student needs
- Support orientation and mobility training alongside other specialized instruction as needed
