Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Glendale Heights, IL

This contract opportunity offers flexibility as a part-time, onsite itinerant teacher, serving elementary through middle school learners. You'll work with students who require expertise, adaptability, and compassion as they navigate their educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
- Experience supporting students with varying levels of visual impairment, ideally across elementary and middle school grades
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional adaptations and accessible materials
- Familiarity with assistive technology for visually impaired learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to students with visual impairments within multiple school sites
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals & accommodations
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, vision teams, and families to ensure student access and participation
- Foster independence and self-advocacy in students through specialized curriculum and technology instruction
- Monitor and document student progress through regular data collection and reporting
