Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) Endorsement
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students (preferred)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel between schools within the county
- Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve approximately 12 to 18 students across a range of ages
- Provide direct instruction and consultative support adapting materials and curriculum to facilitate learning for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to create accessible educational experiences
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute insights to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Advocate for students’ needs and assist with the integration of assistive technology
- Maintain documentation and participate in team meetings as required
