Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies and adaptive materials for the visually impaired
- Familiarity with state and district-specific compliance and documentation
- Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative special education services to students with visual impairments (approximately 45 students, divided among TVIs)
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Conduct assessments and collaborate with educational teams to adapt curriculum
- Support classroom teachers with resources, strategies, and in-service training
- Promote independence and accessibility skills in academic and functional settings
- Maintain accurate records and participate in scheduled meetings, evaluations, and progress reporting
