Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred)
- Valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Vision Impairment license)
- SEI Endorsement required
- Strong knowledge of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including compensatory/access skills, assistive technology, and collaborative orientation & mobility (O&M) practices
- Experience with Braille, large print adaptations, tactile graphics, and low-vision devices preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative TVI services to students from preschool through age 22
- Conduct specialized assessments: Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), Learning Media Assessments (LMAs), and related evaluations to guide eligibility, IEP development, and individualized services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple school levels, ensuring access and inclusion for students with visual impairments
- Support personalized learning plans and advocate for adaptive technologies and resources
