Position Overview
We are seeking two dedicated Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) to support students across multiple school sites in Plymouth, Minnesota for the 2026–2027 school year. These roles involve serving students with visual impairments, many of whom may also have secondary or tertiary disabilities.
The ideal candidates will be skilled in providing specialized instruction, accessibility supports, and consultative services to ensure students can fully access their educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Deliver instruction in expanded core curriculum areas (e.g., braille, orientation and mobility concepts, assistive technology).
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff on visual impairment supports and accommodations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and track student progress.
- Support students across multiple school buildings (2–3 sites per assignment).
Qualifications
- Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure or certification required.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and accessibility strategies.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload across multiple school sites.
