Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher in Education of the Visually Impaired, Special Education, or closely related field
- Valid state teaching certification for Visually Impaired/Blind students
- Previous experience in a K-12 school setting is preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and adaptive technology for visually impaired learners
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional support and adaptations to students with visual impairments in classroom and one-on-one settings
- Assess students’ individual needs and develop appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Consult and collaborate with general and special education teachers, families, and service providers to ensure accessibility and integration
- Adapt curriculum materials and media, providing Braille or large print as necessary
- Provide training and support for classroom staff and families to foster student independence
- Support students in learning self-advocacy and essential life skills
- Monitor, document, and report student progress regularly
