Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Valid teaching certification for the state of Texas
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of adapting instructional materials for visual accessibility
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible caseload
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to modify curriculum and classroom environments
- Consult with families and provide guidance on resources and strategies to support learning at home
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning for student success
