Key Qualifications:
- Active South Carolina certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI)
- Previous experience delivering specialized instruction to visually impaired or blind students
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies and braille instruction
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students in accordance with their IEPs
- Adapt curriculum materials, modify classroom environments, and teach braille as needed
- Provide orientation, mobility, and assistive technology support
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress and IEP compliance
- Partner with general education teachers and related specialists to facilitate student success
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about goals, progress, and strategies
- Participate actively in team meetings, training, and professional development
