Fully Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – North Carolina

Location: North Carolina (School-Based Opportunity)

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students across North Carolina. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and educational support to students with visual impairments, helping them access the curriculum, achieve academic success, and develop the skills needed for independence.

Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families, educators, and school staff.
Provide direct instruction tailored to the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments.
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure accessibility.
Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media evaluations, as appropriate.
Teach compensatory skills, including braille literacy, assistive technology, orientation to educational materials, and independent learning strategies.
Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to implement appropriate accommodations and modifications.
Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and adjust instructional plans as needed.
Support students' academic achievement, self-advocacy, independence, and access to educational resources.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to educational planning and decision-making.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field.
Valid North Carolina teaching certification or eligibility to obtain North Carolina licensure.
Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or endorsement required or preferred, depending on district requirements.
Previous experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting is preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Experience with braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible educational materials is a plus.
