Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized educational support to students with visual impairments throughout South Carolina. This is an urgent opening for the full school year, offering a consistent 30-hour-per-week schedule (work from home).

The ideal candidate is passionate about student success, experienced in supporting learners with visual impairments, and committed to collaborating with educators, families, and support staff to ensure students receive the services and accommodations needed to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative TVI services to students with visual impairments.
• Implement IEP goals and support student progress.
• Conduct assessments and contribute to educational planning.
• Adapt instructional materials into accessible formats, including Braille, large print, and digital resources.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.
• Provide instruction in compensatory skills, assistive technology, and independence skills as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate service logs, progress reports, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Active South Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License/Certification.
• Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting.
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accommodations for students with vision loss.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field.
• Experience with Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA).
