Key Qualifications:
- Texas certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
- Proven experience, training, or practicum expertise supporting visually impaired or blind students in school environments
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and instructional strategies for visually impaired learners
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, organization, and record-keeping skills
- Flexibility to float and adapt to shifting caseloads based on student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instruction to students with visual impairments according to individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess and monitor student progress, adapting lessons and materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, educational staff, and families on accessibility and accommodations
- Advocate for accessible learning environments, utilizing and recommending adaptive tools and technologies
- Travel to various school sites within the district as needed
You’ll be part of a supportive team environment dedicated to creating opportunities and removing barriers for students. This is a floating position, so adaptability and initiative are essential as you will serve varying caseloads throughout your assignment.
