Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in assistive technology devices and software for individuals with visual impairments
- Certification or demonstrated experience as a Braillist, including Braille transcription and material adaptation
- Strong understanding of accessibility guidelines and best practices for K-12 educational environments
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when preparing learning materials
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaborating with diverse teams
- Experience in training staff, students, and families on adaptive devices and strategies preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology tools for classroom and remote learning
- Adapt and transcribe educational materials into Braille and tactile formats as required
- Provide orientation and ongoing support to students, educators, and families using assistive devices and software
- Work closely with teachers and specialists to monitor student progress and modify resources for individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain an inventory of assistive technology devices and ensure timely updates and repairs
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in assistive technology and accessible educational materials
