Qualifications & Desired Background:
- Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and training others in assistive technology for visual impairments
- Ability to transcribe, produce, and adapt braille materials in accordance with educational and accessibility standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Collaborative, communicative, and flexible approach to working with diverse teams
- Experience in a school or educational setting preferred
- Relevant certification or training in assistive technology and/or braille transcription
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology tools and devices
- Adapt and produce classroom materials in braille, large print, or digital formats as required
- Train staff and students in the effective use of assistive technologies and braille literacy
- Stay current with advances in both assistive technology and braille standards
- Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for devices and software
- Collaborate with educational teams on individualized education program (IEP) goals and documentation
