Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience supporting children and adolescents with visual impairments in school settings
• Deep understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and orientation & mobility training
• Ability to create and adapt instructional materials for varying visual needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers
• Compassionate, flexible approach to student-centered teaching

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments across a variety of subject areas
• Assess and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals in cooperation with the educational team
• Train and consult with teachers and staff on best practices, support strategies, and adaptive technology
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence
• Communicate effectively with families about student progress and resources
