Make a meaningful difference supporting students’ access to education as an Assistive Technology Specialist on a full-time, contract basis for the entire school year (with scheduled breaks only during major holidays). Working across grades K-12, you'll provide vital support both in classroom settings and one-on-one, collaborating closely with students and Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure as an Assistive Technology Specialist
- Experience supporting students in grades K-12, particularly in mainstream and special education environments
- Proficiency in transcribing materials into braille, specifically for TVI and student use
- Comfortable working one-on-one and providing individualized assistance based on student needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver dedicated, individualized support for visually impaired students, using assistive technology to enhance classroom participation and learning outcomes
- Transcribe instructional materials and classroom content into braille and accessible formats for TVI and student use
- Partner with classroom teachers and special educators, adapting lesson materials and supporting inclusive instruction
- Participate in IEP meetings and document student progress, needs, and accommodations
- Provide technical assistance and training in the use of specialized equipment and software
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school and district protocols for supporting students with disabilities
