Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Anoka, Minnesota

What you'll need to succeed:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience or training working with students who have vision loss
- Strong ability to create accessible instructional materials and tailor lessons to individual needs
- Comfort adapting to different settings, traveling between two to three school buildings as needed
- Excellent collaboration skills with general and special education staff, related service providers, and families
- Flexibility and resourcefulness in meeting a variety of student learning challenges
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments, adapting instruction as appropriate
- Assessing functional vision, providing direct and consultative services
- Teaching compensatory skills such as Braille, orientation, and mobility techniques
- Supporting classroom teachers in the use of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology
- Documenting student progress and attending multi-disciplinary meetings
- Traveling between the North, South, and West Education Centers to support your assigned caseload
