Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid certification to teach students with visual impairments
• Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive instructional strategies
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess student abilities and develop tailored instructional plans
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive devices
• Adapt classroom materials and resources for visually impaired students
• Support classroom teachers by recommending strategies and modifications
• Monitor progress and keep detailed records in accordance with IEP requirements
• Work collaboratively with families to support student learning and independence
• Attend IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
