Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid certification to teach students with visual impairments
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess student abilities and develop tailored instructional plans
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive devices
- Adapt classroom materials and resources for visually impaired students
- Support classroom teachers by recommending strategies and modifications
- Monitor progress and keep detailed records in accordance with IEP requirements
- Work collaboratively with families to support student learning and independence
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
