Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) is required
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Hands-on experience working with children who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to effectively deliver individualized instruction and accommodate specialized learning needs
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working on-site and engaging with a multidisciplinary team
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored instructional strategies to support the unique needs of a visually impaired student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, families, and other specialists to ensure a holistic educational experience
- Design and adapt materials and environments to ensure accessibility
- Track and report student progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed
- Offer assistive technology training and guidance to help students access curriculum
- Advocate for the student’s needs and encourage their independence and self-confidence
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in visual impairment education
