Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with pediatric populations (school-based, preferred)
- Ability to deliver 1:1 instruction and adapt curriculum to support diverse learning styles
- Strong organizational skills, compassion, and a collaborative spirit
- Willingness to work on-site and engage with multidisciplinary team members
- Open to travel professionals wishing to experience a new community
- Commitment to upholding individualized education program (IEP) goals and progress documentation
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted, 1:1 instruction to a student who is visually impaired, fostering academic success and personal growth
- Implement and adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and comprehensive learning
- Utilize assistive technology and resources to support student’s academic and functional needs
- Partner with teachers, therapists, and family members to deliver coordinated instruction and support
- Monitor and document student progress toward educational goals, communicating updates regularly
- Advocate for the student’s needs in IEP meetings and through ongoing professional collaboration
