Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution
  • State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Previous experience working with pediatric populations (school-based, preferred)
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 instruction and adapt curriculum to support diverse learning styles
  • Strong organizational skills, compassion, and a collaborative spirit
  • Willingness to work on-site and engage with multidisciplinary team members
  • Open to travel professionals wishing to experience a new community
  • Commitment to upholding individualized education program (IEP) goals and progress documentation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted, 1:1 instruction to a student who is visually impaired, fostering academic success and personal growth
  • Implement and adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and comprehensive learning
  • Utilize assistive technology and resources to support student’s academic and functional needs
  • Partner with teachers, therapists, and family members to deliver coordinated instruction and support
  • Monitor and document student progress toward educational goals, communicating updates regularly
  • Advocate for the student’s needs in IEP meetings and through ongoing professional collaboration
