Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12) teaching certificate, OR
  • Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting is highly valued
  • Familiarity with creating and adapting accessible instructional materials and technology
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Ability to travel to multiple school sites as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as needed
  • Assess students’ educational needs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on visual access and independence
  • Consult with general education staff to facilitate effective accommodations and inclusion strategies
  • Teach assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other core competencies for visually impaired learners
  • Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports for each student
  • Act as a supportive resource for families regarding their child’s visual needs and school programming
