Enhance the educational journey of students by supporting learners with visual impairments during the Extended School Year (ESY) session. This contract assignment runs from June 8, 2026, through July 16, 2026, and presents a rewarding opportunity to make a difference with a caseload of 10-15 students. Working within one building but serving a specialized setting with individuals who have significant behavioral and physical challenges, you'll offer expertise and compassion as a pivotal resource for student growth and independence.
Key Qualifications:
- Current licensure or certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI/BVI).
- Experience supporting children with severe behavioral and physical disabilities, ideally within a specialized (setting 4) program.
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive technologies for visual impairment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with educational teams and families.
- Ability to tailor instruction and support to diverse learning and behavioral needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and adaptive support for students with visual impairments in accordance with ESY goals.
- Develop and implement individualized strategies and materials to meet diverse visual and physical accessibility needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers, to foster an inclusive environment.
- Maintain documentation of student progress and participate in meetings as needed.
- Encourage independence and self-advocacy for students across all activities.
